Week beginning 2nd December

Hello everyone

Christmas is certianly on the horizon and we have been learning all about the Christmas story through our work in RE. Next week, our key text in the Nativity, read from our Bible and we will be exploring the different people within the story through our Nativity set. We will be setting this up in the classroom and beginning to explore advent and why we celebrate this preparation for Christmas. The children will receive a gift from our Advent calendar and I hope that they enjoy sharing this at home. 

In maths we are consolidating our learning, by using our maths skills in games. We explored dominoes last week and this week we will be using our skills in dice games.

In Phonics, Nursery are learning the rhyme Heads Shoulder Knees and Toes. We will be learning about body percussion and using this to keep a rhythm. Reception have now completed all of their lessons for phase 2 and will now use the next three weeks to consolidate these sounds and to apply them in their writing and reading. We will also be focusing on letter formation.

We have done well to learn the majority of our Nativity songs and will be focusing the next couple of weeks on making props for our performance and learning words that the children need to say.
