Dormouse class. Week ending 14th November

Date: 13th Nov 2025 @ 11:58am

Good afternoon everyone.

We have had a great week, travelling on the train. With follow my leader games, making tickets for the train and reading books about trains we have learned so much.

Next week our class book is My map book. We will be exploring lots of different maps and making our own. These will range from making a map of the classroom to making a map of our journey to school.

In phonics, Nursery are learning the rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We will also be learning about the initial sounds in words that we can hear and work on matching words and pictures together that begin with the same sound. Reception will be continuing their work learning our new phonemes and tricky words. This week we will be looking at ck e u r and the tricky word the. We are also beginning to write our new words. During our class teaching we wil be using key words such as sentence and word to describe key parts of our books. At home please use these phrases when reading, it helps for our children to learn new words if we are all using them.

In maths, Nursery will be learning about size. We will be compare different sizes and creating playdough cookies using different sized cutters.  Reception will be learning numerals up to 10, to recognise them and begin to write them and adding two groups together to make a new amount.

Next week is Road Safety week and we will be taking part in Beep Beep, series of activities from the charity BRAKE designed to promote an awareness of Road Safety.

Have a lovely weekend.
