Dormouse class Week ending 3rd October
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 5:48pm
Hello everyone.
We have had another successful week learning about journeys made by animals to migrate to other countries in search of food and warmth.
Next week, our story is You can't take an elephant on a bus. We will be learning about different types of transport and thinking about the journeys that we have made. On Monday during worship, Dormouse class are leading worship for the whole school. We will be talking about our favourite food and talking about the journey that this has taken to get to our plate. We will also be saying thankyou to all of the people that have helped to get our food to us.
In phonics, Nursery are learning a new rhyme, five currant buns. We are continuing our work about rhyming words and will be recalling the nursery rhymes that we have been singing this half term. Reception are moving to a new book called At the match. We will also be learning the sounds h b f. We will continue to talk about our old sounds and will use these sounds to orally build new words.
In maths, Nursery are using their rhyme of 5 currant buns to count one to one and use this skill of counting in lots of different situations and games. Reception will be finding ways to represent 5 objects, and finding ways to make five by combining two groups together such as 3 and 2 or 4 and 1.
Next Thursday, we will join with the rest of the school for our annual Harvest Service in church. We look forward to joining with you. We ask if children can bring an item of food for our Harvest festival that can be shared after the service with either a member of our local community or our local foodbank.
Have a lovely weekend
