We have had another very busy week this week!
In phonics we have been looking at the ow, oi and ear sounds. Our tricky words this week have been I, has (Y1) and only, most (Y2.)
In English, we continued to explore the story "Grandad's Island." We thought of examples of speech between Grandad and Syd, using the pictures from the story to support us. We then started to generate a range of descriptive vocabulary to describe the different scenes in the story. Year 1 began to use expanded noun phrases and Year 2 wrote extended descriptive sentences using a variety of sentence openers.
In Maths, year 1 have continued to look at tens numbers. We started to use the vocabulary "more" and "less" to comparte tens numbers. Towards the end of the week, we started to explore the numbers that are one more and one less than a tens numbers and spotted what pattern we could see.
Year 2 have worked this week on buildking fluency when adding and subtracting numbers within 10. We played lots of games involving adding and subtracting.
In science, we looked at the the basic needs of animals. We compared a wild animal to a domestic animal and talked about they still have the same basic needs!
In topic, we carried on with learning about the Titanic. We looked at a range of pictures and discussed what we could see and what evidence there was to tell us what happened.
In RE, we looked further at our big question "Why does Christmas matter to Christians?" We sequenced the Christmas story and verbally retold it.
In computing, we began to look at our new unit called "Algorithms and Debugging." We started by learning that an algorithm is a set on instructions that tells the computer or any other device what to do. We then played a dinosaur game, giving it instructions for what to do!
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
