It has been another fantastic week in Red Squirrel class! The first week of December and the excitement of Christmas is definintely in the air!
In English we listened to the wonderful story "Stickman." We roleplayed some of the scenes in the story and then wrote a recount using a range of conjunctions and descriptive vocabulary. Year 1 focused on capital letters and full stops.
Our spelling patterns were: air and er and adding "er" to root words to change the tense.
Our tricky words were they, me, be and cold, gold
In Maths, Year 1 have been comparing amounts. We used the vocabuary "greater" and "fewer" to compare objects and numbers. Year 2 have been learning different methods for addition and subtraction. We used our number bonds to support us when adding larger numbers.
In Science, we completed our end of unit assessment to show off all of the amazing things that we have learned about our senses!
In RE, we completed some work for our "Advent journey day." We looked at a range of paintings depicting the Christmas story and discussed what we could see and how they made us feel. We then created a class paperchain, where each child wrote something that Christians would be thankful for at Christmas.
In Topic, we designed our own "futuristic" car. We thought about how transport has changed over time and what it might look like in years to come!
In PE, Mr Nagy came in to lead a fantastic endball game in the village hall. We were joined by 4 sports leaders from Year 6 who were fantastic! The children had a brilliant time and shoed great sportsmanship and teamwork.
Next week is a busy one! Project afternoon is on Monday at 2:30, our trip to RAF Cosford is on Tuesday and we are off to the Pantomime on Thursday!!
Have a fantastic weekend everyone,
Miss Anderson :)
