‘Aim High’

W/B 13/10/25

Date: 16th Oct 2025 @ 6:10pm

We have made it to the end of a very busy half term and I can certainly say that the children all deserve a good rest after the hard work they have put in!!

This week in English we wrote our own acrostic poems about Bonfire night and turned them into a class poetry book! We started the week by listening to the sounds of fireworks and watching some videos. This helped us to then generate some fantastic vocabulary. Year 2 created their own expanded noun phrases and examples of alliteration.

In Maths, Year 1 started to work for the first time in their maths books! We looked at sequences with missing numbers up to 20 and practiced writing our teens numbers. We counted forwards and backwards and made our own number line outside, jumping to different numbers.

In Year 2, we began to look at finding the difference. We used counting cubes to support us, and recognised that finding the difference is the same as identifying how many more there are.

In Science, we had to answer the investigation question "Do taller children always have the biggest feet?" We began by getting ourselves into height order and then Miss Anderson measured us using the metre stick and string! We then traced around our feet and ordered these according to their size. From our investigation, we spotted that taller children do often have the bigger feet!

In PE, we finished our health and fitness topic by discussing healthy eating and what a balanced diet is. We did some different fitness drills, timing how many of each movement we could do in the time given.

In Art, we finished our fabulous collages of different vehicles! We are so proud of these, that we are going to display them outside of our classroom!

We had a fabulous topic afternoon, filled with some amazing autumn artwork!

It has been a fantastic half term and I am so proud at how well the children have settled into their learning.

Have a brilliant two weeks!
