‘Aim High’

W/B 19.5.25

Date: 22nd May 2025 @ 3:42pm

We have reached the end of a rather short half term! It has of course been another busy one, so well done to the children for all of their hard work.

This half term we in English we have written a recount of a story, descriptions of a giant and letters. We have used conjunctions to join our ideas, as well as a range of adjectives and expanded noun phrases.

In Maths, Year 1 have been recapping on teens numbers and their place value. We also began to familiarise ourselves with measuring length using a ruler and learnt how to "estimate" the length of an object. Year 2 completed their unit looking at addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers using an efficient method and we are now exploring fractions. We are looking at thirds, halves and quarters and this will continue after half term.

In RE, we discussed the big question "What does it mean to belong to a faith community?" We explored the ways that Christians, Muslims and Jewish people show that they belong through their traditions, objects in their house and the way that they live their lives.

In Science, we have been looking at plants. We have set up several investigations to explore the ways that seeds germinate. We have also planted a sunflower each that we will be bringing home soon! We will continue to look at this after half term.

Topic has been all about bees and we have loved learning about the different kinds of bees in our local area! We have just purchased a bee observation box that we are going to set up in the garden!

Swimming has been fantastic and the children have loved the sessions so far. We still have 6 more to go!

After half term, we have our trip to Attingham Home Farm as well as the Year 1 phonics screening check. If you have any questions about this please don't hesitate to ask!

Have a fantastic half term everybody!
