What a fab week we have had in Red Squirrel class and even better that the sun has been shining!
In English this week we went outside and imagined that we were the new "King of tiny things." We then wrote a set of instructions including imperative verbs and adverbs to explain to someone how to care for creepy crawlies.
Our phonics sounds this week were alternative graphemes for air and ear. Year 2s spelling pattern was homophones.
Our tricky words were said says and many any.
In Maths, Year 1 completed their own first, then, now stories to describe addition and subtraction calculations. Year 2 started a new unit of work exploring shape and comparing different polygons.
In RE, we recapped on the story of Matthew and the tax collector. We drew pictures to describe the different events in the story.
In Science, we identified things around us that are living, dead or have never been alive. We used to the idea of "Mrs Gren" to explore what living things need in order to survive.
In Topic, we located Clive on a map and used google earth to compare the size of Clive to other parts of the UK. We then completed a pictogram to represent the different areas that children in Red Squirrel class live.
In DT, we created another mechanism called a "lever" mechanism. We created our own moving picture using a lever mechanism and they were amazing!
We had our first swimming session on Tuesday and it was very exciting!! Well done to all of the children for their amazing attitude and 100% effort.
Have a fantastic weekend everybody! :)
