We have had a wonderful week in red Squirrel class! On Tuesday we went on our trip to Ancient High House. I have done a separate blog on this, but it was a brilliant day filled with so much information and fun activities. On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. It was fantastic to see the variety of costumes and books! I loved hearing all about the children's favourite stories and sharing our love of reading.

In English, we started the week thinking about questions that we wanted to ask on our trip. Then on Wednesday, we planned a recount all about our trip.

Our phonics sounds this week were alternative graphemes for "er" and "or." Year 2s spelling pattern was "o" spelt as "a" after words beginning with w or qu e.g. watch, wander.

In Maths, Year 1 looked at the position of numbers between 1 and 10 and talked about what patterns we could spot. In Year 2, we explored the commutativity in multiplication and drew our own groups and swapped the factors around to represent this.

In Science, we talked about the changes as we move from winter to spring. We identified how many daylight hours there are in the spring months and compared these to winter.
