‘Aim High’

Week Beginning 12th October

Date: 8th Oct 2026 @ 6:50pm

Hello

We are nearly at the end of the first half term and we have seen such progress with all of the children across different areas of our curriculum. Thank you for all your support throughout the weeks. The children are definitely ready for a well deserved break.

Next week, our book is Our class is a family. For our storytelling, we are going to make up stories about Dormouse class, using things that happen in the classroom and characters such as Clive Bear.

In phonics, Nursery will be learning the rhyme 5 little speckled frogs. We will be making up alliteration sentences too. Reception will be looking at their last book At the match and learning the sounds h b f. After half term, we have our first books going home with words in, so the half term will be a great time to practise sounds that we have learned and beginning to blend sounds together. Alphablocks are great for home, highlighting the sounds that we have been learning. I will post a particularly relevant episode each week but for now looking at the individual sounds will be helpful. Alphablocks - Series 1: 1. Alphablocks A-Z - BBC iPlayer

In maths, Nursery are using the rhyme 5 little speckled frogs to rehearse counting one to one. Reception will be comparing groups of objects more than, fewer than or equal to.

We are beginning to look for signs of autumn next week and so any experiences that the children have had and would like to share will be great.

Have a lovely weekend.
