‘Aim High’

Week Beginning 13th April

Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 5:16pm

Hello all
As we come to the end of another term, thank you for all your support and hard work to help your children to make such great progress. It has been a fantastic term and as we prepare for the Summer term, there are exciting plans ahead. We begin a new topic about growing. Of course the large majority of our time will be focused on growing new seedlings for our garden. The first week back we begin with The Growing Story. This focuses on the growth of people and in particular how much the children have grown. In phonics, Nursery will be matching and beginning to sound out rhyming words. We will begin to listen to each phoneme in the word and start to match them to letters. Reception are coming to the end of this section of phonemes to learn. We will focus on ue and ure. Today we have been phonics detectives, underlining the phonemes in our comics. This supports children in building fluency rather than trying to sound out each sound and finding that some when put together make a new sound. These comics have come home and hopefully children will be able to show you what we have been doing and continue this activity over the holidays.
In maths, Nursery will be ordering children by height using non standard measures. Reception will be talking about patterns of amounts of objects and in particular will be looking at this through doubles. For example, the double 3 arrangement on a dice.
In art, we will be making collections of leaves. If you have any interesting, colourful, safe leaves that we can explore in Dormouse class, please bring them in.
Have a lovely Easter holiday and we look forward to seeing you the week beginning the 13th April.
Mrs Watts.
