‘Aim High’

Week Beginning 18th May

Date: 16th May 2026 @ 5:40pm

Hello everyone

As we near half term, it has been great to look back over the half term and the achievements that have been made. All of our children have been working hard on their maths and phonics and confidence is building.

Next week, we will be reading Oliver's Fruit Salad and Oliver's Vegetables. Our seedlings are growing and we have repotted our pumpkin plants, hoping to grow them on ready for the garden. Last week, we investigated the wormery and used the compost made for our new seeds.

In phonics, Nursery will be listening for the initial sounds in a variety of fruits and vegetables names and Reception will be identifying sounds within a longer text to increase fluency and lessen the need to sound out each word.

In maths, Nursery will be rehearsing counting, tagging each object with a number as we recite numbers 1-10. Reception will be using STEM sentences to describe doubles. Double 4 is 8. 8 is double 4.

Have a lovely weekend.
