Week Beginning 20th April
Date: 17th Apr 2026 @ 7:51am
We have had a great start to the term, beginning our topic on growth and starting to plant in the garden.
Next week, we are reading the story - The Tiny Seed. Our word for the week is germinate. We will be watching the progress of our Broad Bean seeds and beginning to plant more seeds.
In phonics, Nursery are focusing on alliteration, grouping objects together that begin with the same sound. Reception are using phase 2 and 3 sounds to write new words and put these in short phrases and sentences. We are building confidence in this and encourage children to have a go at home.
In maths, Nursery are focusing on the language of size - tiny, huge, small, smallest and largest and making comparisons of these. Reception are learning about the composition of numbers to be able to recall how to make amounts using two smaller amounts.
On Monday, Reception will begin their swimming lessons at Wem Swimming pool with Mrs Watts. Mrs Kenning and Miss Ireland will be with Nursery at school and will be focusing on minibeasts.
Have a lovely weekend.
