Week Beginning 21st September

Hello everyone

What a great week we have had. We are beginning to get to know our routines and learning so much throughout the day across our 7 areas of learning. 

Next week, we continue our learning about families and are reading the book The Family Book by Todd Parr. We will continue to draw pictures of our families and if you have any that you would like to share via Tapestry, we would love to give the children a chance to talk about them. 

Nursery will be focusing on their pencil grip next week and Reception are beginning to look at the letter formation of i n m starting at the top.

In phonics, Nursery are learning the rhyme 5 little monkeys, while Reception are composing sentences for our book Fun at School. 

In maths, Nursery will be using the rhyme 5 little monkeys to begin to count 1:1 and will be playing a dice game. Reception will be looking at patterns of 3 and 4 to show the composition of the amounts for example - 4 might have two dots on one side and two on the other. 

Continuing our theme of families, we will be looking at the painting One of the Family | National Museums Liverpool by Frederick George Cotman. We will recreate the scene using toys and people.
