Week Beginning 26th January in Dormouse class
Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 7:36am
Good morning
This week we have all worked on mark making and writing in particular. Nursery have worked hard on their pencil grip and letter formation for their names and reception have been retelling the story of the Little Red Hen.
Next week, we will continue this with our story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
In phonics, Nursery will be learning rhyming words and breaking their names into syllables. Reception will be using qu and ch in words alongside learning new tricky words.
In maths, Nursery continue to learn about counting and particularly focusing on tagging an object with the next number word.
Reception will be using a dice frame to represent amounts and continuing our work on number bonds.
Giants will be our theme next week and we will be looking at significant art pieces that focus on large scale sculptures such as the Angel of the North and Christ the Redeemer. We will also be listening to the Bible story of David and Goliath. We are working on producing a large piece of artwork and large models.
It's a busy week again next week as we also take part in the Big Schools' Birdwatch. This week, we made bird feeders and hung them in trees on the hill. This week, during outdoor learning, we are going to look if any have been eaten and hope to sit and watch if we can spot any birds.
Have a lovely weekend.
