Week Beginning 27th April
Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 8:14am
After another great week of learning, we are moving on next week to our new book - Jasper's beanstalk. Poor Jasper isn't very patient when he waits for his beanstalk to grow. We will be learning about what plants need to grow. This week we watched a time lapse video of a bean growing and as we begin to see shoots from our Broad Beans, we will be observing their progress.
In phonics, Nursery are orally segmenting a blending sounds in words, whilst Reception will be being phonics detectives to find our phonemes within words. This helps then to speed fluency in reading. As we begin to spot the phonemes such as igh within a word, we need to sound out less.
In maths, Nursery are continuing work on measuring and will be comparing heights of towers using key phrases such as shorter than and taller than. Reception will be learning about 5 and a bit, how we compose amounts using 5 and a bit and using our tens frames to show this.
We continue our work on leaves in art and so if you find an interesting leaf that you would like to share with us, we would love to see it.
Have a lovely weekend.
