Week Beginning 2nd November

What a fantastic half term we have had. So much learning and so many great activities. The children have worked really hard and are certainly ready for a break. 

After half term, we return together on Tuesday 3rd November. We will be focusing on houses and thinking about what our own houses look like. Our book for the week is Let's build a house, learning about building materials and structures. We will be investigating why we use certain materials for certain parts of the buildings such as glass for windows. 

In phonics, Nursery will be orally blending sounds together to make new words. Reception will be looking at their new reading book - s a t p. This will come home to share too. This will be our first book with words. 

In maths, Nursery will be looking at repeating patterns such as red green red green and learning how to continue these patterns. Reception will be learning about parts of amounts and the whole of an amount. For example, a group of 3 is the whole of the amount but can be split into two parts 2 in one and 1 in another.

We have been practising our letter formation and as promised I have made a video for children and parents to watch at home.
