‘Aim High’

Week Beginning 4th May

Date: 1st May 2026 @ 8:07am

As the weather is hopefully warming up a little, our plants are also responding and growing well. Next week, our book focus is Eddie's Garden and we will be exploring what we have planted and planting more seeds. Our word for word aware is compost. The worms have certainly had a busy time in our wormery and now our apple cores and banana skins will help to grow our next plants.
In phonics, Nursery have grown in confidence and are now orally segmenting and blending words. This we do through `robot` talk. Saying the word in parts for example p-i-g. Reception are working on our tricky words and using and applying our phonic knowledge in reading and writing. We have been writing instructions this week and next week we are learning about labels and in particular labels for our garden.
In maths, Nursery are learning about capacity, which holds the most and Reception are exploring ways in which 10 can be composed of two different parts such as 6 and 4.
Next Friday is Sir David Attenborough's birthday and we will be marking this day by celebrating the nature all around us.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend.
