Week Beginning 5th January

Hello everyone. Happy New Year,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas time with family and friends. Clive Bear has certainly been busy. His highlights have been putting up the Christmas tree, admiring the Christmas Trees at Attingham Park, visiting the Blood Donoring centre with Mr and Mrs Watts Home - NHS Blood Donation Meeting up with bears at the Watts house, listening to the carols by Candlelight at Clive Church and visiting Liverpool Cathedral for their Christmas day service. He has also taken a well earned bath after a long walk along the canal. 

As we celebrate the new year, we look towards next term. Our curriculum is on the website 43641529_grade_file.pdf

In our first week, we will be sharing the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will all begin to explore how we retell a story through words, acting out the story, puppets and songs. Reception will also begin to learn how to retell a story through writing. We will be making masks using different techniques and will use these to create a story board. 

In maths, Nursery will use the story of Goldilocks to compare sizes and Reception will be learning how to visualise number patterns, looking carefully to see groups of dots within larger dot patterns. We will use our subitising skills learned last term for this.

In science through our understanding of the world, we will be learning about different materials, learning vocabulary to describe them and learning about changes, for example when food is heated through cooking. We will be making and tasting porridge towards the end of the week, with gluten free and vegan oats and milk being used. Please let school know if you have any concerns.
