Week Beginning 5th October
Date: 29th Sep 2026 @ 6:23pm
This week, Reception have been taking part in the Department for Education Baseline Assessment. I hope that for them they have not noticed anything additional and that they enjoyed playing the games with me out of class.
Next week, we begin a new book - This is our house by Michael Rosen. It tells the story of a group of children learning to share a house that they have made from a cardboard box. We will be thinking about what the children could do and using this if ever we find ourselves in a situation of sharing.
In phonics, Nursery will be learning the rhyme 5 currant buns and learning about rhyming words. Reception will be learning about the book At the Park. We are continuing to learn our new letter sounds. I have written these in reading books to show where we are up to.
In maths, Nursery will be acting out the rhyme 5 currant buns and using this to learn about 1:1 counting. Reception will be learning about the composition of 5. How can we arrange our groups of 5 in different ways . For example 1 and 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 or 4 and 1.
On Monday, Dormouse class are leading Whole School Worship again. We will be sharing and eating bread with each other. If you have any concerns regarding allergies, please let the school office know.
On Thursday, we will join with school for our annual Harvest Worship in church. Children are encouraged to bring in tinned items for distribution to our friends in the village and to share with our local foodbank.
Have a lovely weekend.
