‘Aim High’

Week Beginning 8th June

Date: 5th Jun 2026 @ 5:11pm

Hello

After a successful return to school after half term, we are well on our way for our new topic focus about change over time and in particular focusing on toys.

Next week, we hope to start our own museum using old toys from when we were younger and toys that we enjoying playing with now. Thank you for the shoe boxes. We will always welcome more if they are available. We plan to use these shoe boxes as part of our toy museum. If children would like to bring in toys from next week, they can either take them home daily or leave them in school.

Our book for next week is Old Bear, focusing on key language of old and new.

In phonics, Nursery will be learning about rhyming and listening to rhyming stories. Reception will be using their phonics skills to read nonsense words. This is a useful way to practise reading phonics without using sight words.

In maths, Nursery will be learning about area and making a parachute for old bear. We will think about the size of fabric that we need. Reception will be continuing their work about rekenreks and using this for addition and subtraction.

In PE, our focus is on throwing and catching and nursery will be developing fine motor skills with cutlery.

Have a lovely weekend.
