‘Aim High’

Week Ending 10th October

Date: 8th Oct 2025 @ 3:54pm

As we get closer to half term, can I say thankyou for your ongoing support at home. Dormouse class have settled in really well and they are already showing progress.

Next week, our book for the week is Driving my tractor. This is a lovely book about a farmer travelling along bumpy roads. It has a number of repeated sentences and we will be encouraging clear words spoken and good listening. We will be exploring bumpy surfaces and using different materials to make patterns. During Outdoor Learning, we will be making bumpy patterns using tree rubbings.

In phonics, Nursery are learning the rhyme Five Little Speckled Frogs. We will also be listening for the initial sound in the word. Reception are moving on to a new book during phonics and will be learning s a t p. At the match book will be sent home on Monday. Please can I ask that you send books in each Monday to change.

In maths, Nursery will be using the rhyme five little speckled frogs to count one to one and subitise how many are left on the log.

Reception are exploring the vocabulary more than and fewer than and will be learning about the word equal.

We have all been keen to write during child initiated play. We are keen to encurage this and as we spoke at our phonics workshop, we are pleased with all attempts at spelling. At this stage, we don't correct spellings or write it for them to copy.

Have a lovely weekend.
