‘Aim High’

Week Ending 12th September

Date: 12th Sep 2025 @ 7:55pm

Hello everyone
Once again we have had an incredible week, with such a lot of learning taking place. Everyone has taken each day in their stride and made it to the end of the week. The highlight for many was balloon batting. This was an exercise to build upper body strength and in particular upper arms.
This coming week we have as our story, The journey home from Grandpa's. In this text, we will be travelling on a journey in a car. Through the text, we will be building geographical vocabulary such as mountains, rivers, hills and city. We will also be making collages of patchwork art. At home, when you are on a journey, please try to embed this vocabulary by pointing out what you can see on the way.
In phonics, Nursery are moving on to the rhyme 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive. We will be learning about alliteration and will also be using this rhyme in our maths work, adding one more fish.
In reception phonics, we will be exploring the text Fun at School. We will also be moving on to the new sounds i n m d. Everyone has worked really hard blending using our first sounds s a t p. Alphablocks has more useful episodes to help us with i n m d
Please remember to return your reading book on Monday when we will swap for your next book. On Thursday, we will also have our phonics and maths workshop. This is a good opportunity to see phonics in action and understand how we teach and children learn phonics. We will also talk through Mastering Number and how we begin the journey through maths learning.
In maths, reception will be thinking about the composition of numbers 3 is made up of 2 and 1 or 3 1s.
Clive Bear has already been to visit one household and when he returns on Monday, will go and visit another. We just ask that if possible you send a photograph via email or Tapestry and encourage your child to talk about Clive's week.
Have a lovely weekend.
