Week ending 17th October
Date: 16th Oct 2025 @ 12:57pm
Hello all
It's hard to believe that we are now approaching the end of our half term. The children have had such a busy time and have learned so much. Many thanks for attending our parents meeting and finding out more about this learning and what you can do at home to enhance this.
After half term, we return on Tuesday 4th November. We will be reading our new text All Aboard the Bobo Road. This has some fantastic pictures and we will be exploring these and patterns like them in our artwork. We will also be tasting different foods from around the world. Please let myself or Mr Watts know if there are any concerns with tasting rice or making and tasting fruit kebabs with fruits like pineapple, banana and mango.
In phonics, Nursery will be learning about segmenting and blending sounds to make new words. We will do this through the rhyme Pat a cake.
Reception will be moving on to ithe phonemes inmd and will be bringing home their first book with words - s a t p. We have been exploring letter formation and will be rehearsing the formation of a. Beginning with a c shape, up to the top and then back down again. We will then move on to m and n, starting at the top, down, back up and over.
In maths, Nursery are looking at patterns using our pat a cake rhyme. These are repeating patterns for example a red brick, blue brick, red brick, blue brick.
Reception will be exploring parts of amounts. For example 3 can be made up of 2 and 1. We will use our number blocks cubes to show this visually. At this stage we don't introduce the + or = signs but instead talk about what we are seeing and build up amounts. In time then we would want children to be able to recall these number bonds.
In the meantime, have a lovely half term break and we look forward to seeing you back in school.
