Dear Parents and Carers,
We've had a fantastic week in Hedgehog class, full of exciting learning across all subjects!
PE- TAG Rugby
On Monday we began our tag rugby sessions in PE, which we'll be continuing until half term. The children enjoyed learning basic skills and playing some fun team games to build their confidence.
Maths - Addition Focus
In maths, we've been exploring addition and learning how it is commutative- meaning we can move the numbers around and still get the same sum!
Year 3 - have been working with numbers up to 100.
Year 4 -have been extending their understanding with numbers to 1000.
English - The Stoneage boy by Satoshi Kitamura
In English, we've been reading the stoneage boy and using it for inspiration for our own writing. We've focused on creating sentences with expanded noun phrases and prepositions to make our writing more descriptive and engaging.
Science-Rocks, fossils and soil.
We've kicked off our new science topic by learning about differerent types of rocks. We explored the school grounds to find examples of both natural and man-made rocks- the children were brilliant rock detectives!
Art- Clay Creations.
In art, we looked at ther ceramic work of Dame Lucie Rie. Inspired by her style, the children began creating their own clay dishes, learning how to imprint patterns and textures into clay slabs.
It has been a wonderful week of creativity, curiosity and collaboration . We're looking forward to more exciting learning next week!
Have a Lovely Weekend,
Best Wishes
Miss Cordey
